Wheat Straw is Collected
Otherwise unwantedThe extra straw comes after the farmers have already used it for other purposes, such as animal bedding and tilling into the soil straw is collected from farmers within a 50km radius of the factory
The Pulp is Washed
The pulp is washed several times to remove and collect black liquordark sludgy stuff that contains impurities from the pulp, along with the chemicals used in the digesting process.
Energy & Chemicals are Recovered
Both the energy and chemicals are recovered for reuse by combusting the black liquor in a recovery boiler.A furnace that’s close to 5 stories high
The Pulp is Bleached
The washed pulp is bleached using Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF)ECF avoids the use of elemental chlorine (CL2), which creates carcinogens and harms the environment sequences to increase the brightness.
The Pulp Blend is Made
After a final cleaning, the wheat pulp is combined with a smaller portion4 to 1 for copy paper and 3 to 2 for professional grade folio paper of FSC® Certified Hardwood FiberFSC® Certified hardwood fiber comes from forests that are managed sustainably, find out more at ic.fsc.org.
Pulp is Made into Paper Rolls
The blended pulp is processed by a papermaking machineAn enormous machine that lays the pulp into a continuous sheet, flattens, and then dries it into rolls of paper, forming large rolls of paper.
Paper is Cut to Size
High quality paper rolls are then cut into different sizes and are packaged into reams and cartons.
Paper is Shipped
Now a finished product, Step Forward Paper™ is palletized and shipped to your local distributor, where it’s improving the world one step at a time.
